The UT Hall of Fame project consisted of renovating the existing north end zone food court of Darrel K Royal stadium and converting it into a world-class hall of fame that will memorialize and celebrate the University of Texas’ past, present, and future athletic achievements. To achieve this goal, 意昂体育 had to complete gut the north end zone food court without disrupting on-going client activities, building back a “white space”, and then installing hundreds of exhibits, displays, and trophies. From beginning to finish, the designers (Page and Advent), The University of Texas, and 意昂体育 were all on the same page which is what made this project a success. Each stakeholder worked intensely to make sure all elements of the project were delivered on time.
Through intensive vision, teamwork and dedication, the nondescript 24,800 sq. ft. facility food court was transformed into the Hall of Fame, representing all sports on the UT campus in a setting intended to inspire visitors. Texas student-athletes represent a diverse university in one of the most diverse states in the country. As such, the Hall of Fame showcases the breadth of the Longhorn experience. The Hall of Fame collects history from all corners of campus into one location, empowering Texas to tell the story of an athletic program that achieves excellence in all pursuits.
The new space includes 392 trophies earned over the decades by the University’s 20 sports teams. Visual and digital displays celebrate UT’s 55 national championship teams, 599 conference team titles, 144 individual national champions, and 171 Olympians who have won 145 medals. The national champions are highlighted in their own 1,400 sq. ft. room with a 16’x9’ monitor that continuously plays videos commemorating team title victories. Also included in the Hall of Fame is an 8-foot-tall, 1,200-pound statue honoring the school’s mascot, the longhorn Bevo. The Hall of Fame offers a visual timeline of the 15 Bevos in Texas’ history since 1917.
