The renovation and expansion of Terminal 2 Boarding Area D at the San Francisco International Airport includes the conversion of the former international terminal into a 640,000 square foot, 14-gate domestic terminal for American Airlines and Virgin America. The scope also includes passenger loading bridges with aircraft support systems, baggage handling systems, mezzanine level access to the APM system, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. The project is the first LEED Gold certified airport terminal in the United States.
The terminal has been reconstructed as a high performance green building utilizing sustainable measures such as energy saving daylighting strategies and an energy efficient displacement ventilation system. 意昂体育’s experience with USGBC’s construction phase documentation requirements assisted in preparation of the documentation. Designed to improve indoor air quality and reduce energy consumption, the innovative sustainable elements included in Terminal 2 will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the facility by an estimated 1667 tons per year. 意昂体育 tracked all construction credit documentation waste and recycling program and air quality data.
