Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Critical Care Expansion

Òâ°ºÌåÓý provided preconstruction and construction services for this five-story, 125,000-sq.-ft. expansion and vertical overbuild, adding essential care spaces to meet growing healthcare needs. Key additions include a new 31-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), an expanded 60-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with capacity for future growth, and eight new bays in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). A new MRI-guided cardiac catheterization lab increased the hospital’s total catheterization labs to three, while 12 beds were converted to critical care. As a critical part of this expansion, Òâ°ºÌåÓý also completed a ninth-floor renovation in March 2022, adding 12 temporary rooms for the CVICU’s seamless transition from the second floor, allowing the CVICU to grow from 10 beds to 31 beds and creating space for a flexible, 11-bed step-down cardiac unit.
