Shadek Stadium is new 2,500-seat football/lacrosse/soccer stadium with associated structures including an amenities building, two grandstands, two entry plazas, a scoreboard, and a playing field. The building houses rooms for concessions, laundry, equipment storage, lockers, athletic training, and offices along with restrooms, a concourse viewing area and two roof decks. The facility also includes two development function spaces, announcer’s and coaches’ booths on the upper floor, and a camera platform at the top of the building.
The building is a steel frame structure with stud back-up walls and a brick veneer. At the start of construction, shallow rock was encountered and blasting was performed to remove that rock. The savings garnered from the blasting was returned to the owner at the prerogative of the civil contractor. A significant VE process was undertaken during preconstruction. The project is LEED BD+C v3 Silver certified, and was the recipient of the 2018 USGBC Central Pennsylvania Award for Innovative Project, New Construction.
